Yiacoustic Sound Absorbing Panels – FAQ
Good sound absorbing panels can weaken the sound reflection, clean up the terrible background noise level in the room, and restore the room to a good sound balance and have good clarity. For business settings, less background noise will gather for a group of people in a room to trigger a more comfortable acoustic environment. People no longer need to shout over background noise to communicate.
That is why Yiacoustic do.
The noise reduction coefficient (NRC) is essentially a percentage of the noise absorbed by the material, 0 is completely reflective, and 1.00 is completely absorbed. 0.9, the 90% of the sound coming into contact with the panel will be absorbed.
We have many kinds of acoustic materials to match the different environments. We are Yiacoustic.
The acoustic panel provides a simple and important function for absorbing sounds. You can think of them as acoustic black hole – the sound goes in and doesn’t come back. Sound absorbing panels does not make the sound source disappear, but they can reduce echoes which can have a big impact on the acoustics of the whole room.

There are two factors in determining the square foot of the acoustic panel required for a given space: the area of space and the surface material. To calculate the area of space, we need to know the length, width and height of the room. We also need to understand the surface materials of the space, including walls, floors and ceilings. For example, most acoustic suspended ceiling panels are 600 x 600 or 600 x 1200mm.
To use the acoustic panels or other sound absorbing materials are not only for sound treatment, but also interior decoration. So the customer will consider where is the best position to cover the materials.
In general, it is not important that where to place the sound absorbing panels in the room. Visually pleasing appearance is usually the guiding factor for placement. The most important thing is to simply get the total quantity of needed sound absorbing panels in the area. No matter where the panels are placed, the panels will absorb the extra sounds from each surface of the room.
In other words, we do have a few non-critical guides on the placement of acoustic panels.
First, when the panel is placed in or near the corner, you can get more absorption per square meter of the panel. In other words, if you place some of them around or near the corner, your room will need a little less panel.
Second, if the room has a major source of sound, such as a speaker at the corner of the room, it is best to place the panel at the first reflection point. These are where the sound comes from the source, bounces once and reaches the audience. For example, the middle between the listener and the speaker is a first reflection point where your brain must sort out multiple copies of the same voice, making things sound less clear, making the speech more difficult to understand. Adding sound absorbing panels at the first reflection point reduces the late sound so that your brain can focus on a clear copy of the sound.
Different panels have different installation methods. We recommend using nail and glue for most products. You can also use a Z-type bracket to secure the replaceable sound insulation panel to the wall. Contact with Yiacoustic team for details.
