From November 12th to 17th, the 15th China International Space Expo opened in Zhuhai, Guangdong. During the period, the most eye-catching thing was the exhibitors buying and buying behavior of Saudi exhibitors “except for the iron fence, everything else is packaged”, and the Chinese people also ridiculed the Zhuhai Air Show as becoming the “Double Eleven” in the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia’s luxury behavior not only highlights the strong scientific and technological innovation capabilities of China’s aerospace and national defense forces, but also demonstrates the achievements of China’s strategy of becoming a strong country in science and technology. The air show is an important moment of pride for the Chinese people, and tickets for each air show are hard to find, so the residential buildings near Zhuhai Airport become the second air show stand. When we visited the exhibition, we were constantly impressed by the country’s soaring innovation ability and the pilots’ skillful piloting skills. But for some people who are not interested in the air show or work from home, the loud engine noise will undoubtedly affect the quality of their daily work life.
What are the characteristics of fighter engine noise?
1. Fighter engines and other equipment have high power, and the take-off and landing stages are close to the ground, resulting in high noise intensity, usually above 130 db, far exceeding the human comfort noise range of 70 db, which will cause damage to the human ear.
2. The noise is high in low frequency sound waves, with long wavelength, long propagation distance, slow attenuation time, easy to penetrate obstacles, such as residential walls, etc., affecting the indoor environment.
3. Fighter engine noise is intermittent, unlike industrial noise, which is constant. If multiple fighters fly in the same area, it will cause great disruption to the lives of residents around the airport.
4. Fighter noise contains a variety of frequency components, from low frequency to high frequency, engine noise, aerodynamic noise, etc., the spectrum is complex, and it is difficult to control.
How should I deal with such a sound environment? Yiacoustic recommends that residents near the airport can take the following acoustic measures to absorb sound and reduce noise to reduce aircraft noise interference and improve their quality of life.
1. Install soundproof doors and windows
Professional soundproof doors and windows are made of multi-layer glass and soundproof materials, which can effectively block sound transmission. Generally, the noise can be reduced by 20-30 db, such as 80db in the airport, and about 50-60 db in the room after installation, reaching the normal conversation sound level.
2. Use sound-absorbing materials
Materials such as acoustic panels and acoustic foam have pores inside, and after sound waves enter, they will rub and convert into heat energy in the pores, thereby reducing the reflected sound. Installing sound-absorbing materials on the walls and ceilings of the room can reduce the noise by 5-10 db, and at the same time improve the indoor acoustic environment and reduce echoes.
3. Build a noise barrier
Noise barriers are generally made of soundproof panels, sound-absorbing cotton, etc., and are installed between residential buildings and airports to block noise transmission by reflecting and absorbing sound waves. When the height, length, material, etc. are appropriate, the noise can be reduced by 10-15 db, which has a good effect on blocking low-frequency noise.
4. Install acoustic ceilings
Installing a soundproof ceiling in the ceiling, forming an air layer in the middle, with sound-absorbing materials, can enhance the sound insulation effect. It can reduce the noise by 5-8 db, and it also has a blocking effect on the noise coming from the upstairs room.
